On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at the residence in Kniazhychi, where His Beatitude Lubomyr lived his earthly life, a day of spiritual retreat for the employees of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC took place. The decision of this year's Synod of Bishops of the UGCC refers to a monthly day of spiritual renewal for the workers of the eparchial curia and administrations. Therefore, it can soon be expected that such an event will become a certain style of life and work in curia of different levels.

"We wanted, above all, to respond to the suggestion of the Synodal Fathers that eparchial administrations and all those structures that assist the bishops in fulfilling their tasks could enliven their ministry by prayer and inspiration from the Word of God," said Bishop Bohdan Dzurakh, secretary of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, in a comment.

"I am very glad that the Patriarchal Curia responded to this initiative and very quickly agreed to spend this day in reflection, prayer, and communication with God and with each other," said Bishop Bohdan Dzurakh.

He also explained what he wanted to emphasize in the spiritual teaching: “I chose a biblical text which is familiar to all, namely, Jesus' visit to Bethany, where his friends Martha, Mary, and Lazarus lived. It was on the example of those who received Jesus'-traveler that I wanted to focus the attention of the participants of this meeting on three points: the first - the road as a symbol of our spiritual life, the second - the hearing of God's Word, and the third - the ministry."

At the end of the spiritual retreat, Fr. Volodymyr Mysterman, the deputy administrator of the Patriarchal Curia, thanked Bishop Bohdan for not only pointing out the importance of a day of spiritual recovery, but also for agreeing to become its leader and preacher. Thanks also were given to the Sisters Servants who enabled holding the retreat in Kniazhychi thanks to their hospitality.
