Lvivshchyna without Orphans, a conference on 27 April 2012, will address effective means of overcoming orphanhood in the area (location to be announced). The representatives of the UGCC Commission on Matters of the Family stated that the goal of the conference is to coordinate in the Lviv province all the efforts on behalf of orphans and children deprived of parental care, and to bring together all those who provide any assistance to children. The conference was initiated by the Ukraine Without Orphans Alliance and Lviv community and church organizations, specifically, UGCC Commission on Matters of the Family, Children’s Paths, a charitable fund, New Hope, an all-Ukrainian community Christian and educational organization, Rebirth through Love, a charitable fund,  and Blessings, a private children’s home, together with the Lviv Oblast Service for Children. Most attention of the conference will focus on family-oriented methods of assisting orphans and children deprived of parental care. Simultaneously, much emphasis will be accorded the efforts undertaken by church and community organizations to reduce the number of orphans in the region.  Also the gathering will address Ukrainian society’s current issue of migration and the resulting emergence of “social orphans.” “Today the nation’s priority in the area of protection of rights and interests of children is placing them in families – adoption and care.  It is in the family that the child can develop as a full-fledged person.  We believe that in Lviv there are many open-hearted individuals who are willing to welcome a child into their family circle and envelop that child with its coziness,” declared Ms. Maria Sakvuk from the UGCC Commission on Matters of the Family. We are happy to invite to this conference all representatives of community and philanthropic organizations, clergy and monastic orders, city and oblast administration, children services, social service centers for families, youth and children, in other words – all for whom orphans and children lie close to their hearts and who wish to assist them.  For information, please call 067-674-1986 (Ms. Maria Sakvuk).
