Head of the UGCC: I am for the healthy emancipation of women

Gender equality of men and women in Ukraine is a goal we must set for ourselves. This was stated by Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church His Beatitude Sviatoslav during the program "Open Church" devoted to the role of women in the Church and society. The guest of the Head of the UGCC was the mother heroine Halyna Davydiuk, a member of the NGO "Ukrainian Business Women."

The Primate noted that in Ukraine the topic of equality between men and women is not fully understood. It is about equality in dignity and rights between men and women. This is something that belongs to the Creator's plan for women.

"A man has his vocation, a woman has hers. But in their dignity, in their rights, they are equal. And when we hear that somewhere a woman gets paid less than a man for the same job, it is absolute discrimination and injustice,” the Head of the Church said.

"Therefore, gender equality in Ukraine is the goal we must set for ourselves. I would also be very careful about gender equality. Because here we immediately begin to use a word that introduces a certain latest ideology into our lives, " the Head of the Church added.
