The Head of the UGCC enthroned Bishop Arkadiy Trokhanovsky as the bishop of the Olsztyn-Gdańsk Eparchy

On January 23, 2021, at the end of the Liturgy during which the ordination of Bishop Arkadiy Trokhanovsky took place, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, introduced him to the throne of the newly formed Olsztyn-Gdańsk Eparchy.

In his speech of thanks, Bishop Arkadiy expressed his gratitude to all those who came to this celebration, as well as to God for the gift of priesthood, which now continues as the episcopal ministry.

"In a special way, I want to thank His Beatitude Sviatoslav, who arrived and wanted to lead these celebrations. This sign of faith, hope and love is very important for us," said Bishop Arkadiy, addressing the Head of the Church.

Due to the pandemic, members of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC were unable to attend the enthronement, so they sent only greetings and assured of their support and prayer. The new bishop thanked them for this.

Bishop Arkadiy thanked all those who taught him the law of God, especially Sister Olha Haidukevich, a Basilian whom God had already called to Himself. "I thank her for introducing me to religious life. I thank Father Mitrat Yulian Khoiniak, who was my first pastor, taught me the truths of God and was the one who led me to the priesthood through his personal zealous service,” said the bishop.

The bishop also thanked his relatives: his father, who passed away, and his mother, who was present at the enthronement. He also expressed his gratitude to his parishioners from all over the world, where he used to serve and to the priests of the newly formed eparchy: “I hope that we will open a new page in history and fill it with good deeds that will serve the good of the faithful. And we will be in unity, love and faith, which we will pass on to our faithful."

Representatives of the Holy Father Pope Francis, the government of Poland, Ukraine, local authorities, the faithful, and members of Plast arrived for the enthronement. They noted the importance of this historic event, greeted the new Bishop Arkadiy and wished him many years of life for the good of the people and the glory of God.

As we have already reported, on January 23, 2021, His Beatitude Sviatoslav in the Olsztyn Cathedral of the Intercession of the Theotokos in Poland ordained the first ruling Bishop Arkadiy Trokhanovsky of the newly created Olsztyn-Gdańsk Eparchy.
