On August 26, 2020, an online meeting of the heads of Catholic educational institutions with the Patriarch of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav took place.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav greeted everyone with the beginning of the new school year and thanked for the opportunity to meet with everyone, albeit virtually. The Head of the Church expressed his opinion on the importance of communicating and exchanging views in order to be stronger and find answers to difficult questions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and shared his experience of discussing the current situation at the highest level. On August 19, on the Feast of the Transfiguration, His Beatitude Sviatoslav had a personal meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mr. Denys Shmyhal. Mr. Shmyhal supported the proposal of His Beatitude to make a healthy lifestyle in a pandemic the topic of the first lesson of the school year.

On August 20, the Head of our Church took part in a meeting with the Prime Minister and other ministers as a member of the AUCCRO. The meeting discussed the beginning of the new school year in the context of exacerbation and spread of COVID-19. The Head of the UGCC, for his part, submitted proposals that follow from the tradition of our Church: “We can turn a problem into an opportunity, and a challenge into an possibility. Most likely, the only obstacle to the spread of this virus is the cultivation of a certain type of culture - the culture of a healthy lifestyle.”

The Churches of Ukraine also formulated a number of proposals for the organization of the educational process.

"At the level of the UGCC," His Beatitude Sviatoslav remarked, "on the part of the Commission on Education and Upbringing and the Commission on Health Care, we want to help Catholic educational institutions start the school year in the best and safest way possible. I really want us to set an example of building a new culture of health in new circumstances,” emphasized the Head of the Church.
